**WELCOME TO VIRTUAL HOME MANNERS!**
If you've dedicated time to training your puppy or adult dog at home and are eager to showcase your achievements, the AKC’s Virtual Home Manners program is the perfect platform for you!
**What is Virtual Home Manners?**
Virtual Home Manners (VHM) is your solution for at-home dog training. Whether you've recently welcomed a puppy or a new adult dog, Virtual Home Manners is an excellent way to kickstart your training journey with practical skills before attending a formal class.
The evaluation of your dog's ability to perform ten essential home manners skills will be conducted through a video recording. We offer two levels - Virtual Home Manners Puppy (VHMP) and Virtual Home Manners Adult (VHMA). Upon successfully passing the tests, your dog will be awarded these prestigious titles.
The ten skills assessed in Virtual Home Manners are crucial for a well-mannered pet dog within a home setting. These skills focus on your ability to control your dog, walk them effectively (a common desire for dog owners), and build a strong bond during playtime. To get started, explore our "How to Train" VHM training videos.
Virtual Home Manners tests are evaluated online by AKC CGC Evaluators, similar to the process used for Virtual Tricks. There is no in-person testing for Virtual Home Manners. It serves as a natural progression for those interested in AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy and Canine Good Citizen (CGC) in-person training.
**How Virtual Home Manners Works:**
To earn the Virtual Home Manners titles, follow these straightforward steps:
1. Dog owners will record a video showcasing their dogs performing the required skills (found on the VHM checklists).
2. Send the video link to an Approved AKC CGC Evaluator. Zoom and other live formats may also be used for evaluating Virtual Home Manners.
3. Upon a successful review of the video, the Evaluator will send the Checklist Form to the dog owner.
4. The dog owner will then submit to AKC:
- The Checklist -
-The Virtual Home Manners Title Application form - A fee of $30.00.
